The same place, the same time, we are always seeing Len’s Mom working in the hog pen, and her cheap wigs lying on her head spiritlessly. As she has slaughtered all of the pigs of their family’s, she needs to clean the place and get ready to cultivate other kinds of animals. As the villagers don’t know the market’s instability, they do some stupid things to enlarge their scale in a blind way. The pork market is really of high risk and in a mess position. The final consequence brings the tremendous decreasing of pork selling price, and the whole market environment is becoming away from the booming place.
And the priority what Len’s Mom can do is to find out a better way to lead the villagers to earn more money but in a more reasonable way. Someday Len’s step father comes from the urban place and tells them good news that the local government comes up with new policy that all the villagers don’t have to pay the agriculture tax and can even transfer or trade their right of land using. That means people can arrange their land using so that they could carry out integrated agriculture industry. This can help to liberate more labor force to do other business and don’t have to worry about the agriculture tax. They could be much easier to step out of the countryside and own their career. Len’s step father bids a construction project in the city and hope the villagers could go to the city and be city-constructors.
Almost all the young men start to work in the city, they don’t have to get stuck in the countryside and be a modern man. In the city place, they know why city people are clever and glory, as they get better education. They know why city people like wearing full lace wigs, as they are pursuing the fashion and those chic things can also occur in their life. But they also know the city citizens can not live a better life without them—the city constructors. A lovely worker says: when he gets back home on the lunar day, he will bring his children some books and buy her wife a piece of cheap front lace wigs. He wishes someday he could live his life as the city citizens do. That is a typically rural man and is called Old K by all the villagers in the countryside, living in the same village as Len’s Mom. And in the past one year, he has experienced tremendous change in his life, poor to rich, single to married.
One year ago, he was just a very normal farmer in this place and he even did not marry at that time. And while Len’s Mom returned to the village with that explosive investment that she would invest to run a poultry cultivating project, Old K also anticipated in this project and he bought 10 Piggy from Len’s Mom. These pigs are of no charge first and the villagers need to pay back the money while they sold the grown pig to the market. Of course, Len’s Mom would charge some commission from them. And in the first year, many villagers had gained much money for them, so they all confirmed this would bring them more money if they could cultivate more and more pigs. In this year, Old K got married and they were willing to have a baby. But in the past few months, the demand of pig in the market was totally full because of the pouring pigs from this village. The price decreased suddenly that all the villagers suffered a huge loss.
Old K also suffers a great loss and could not afford the expenses of the family. So he wonders he could not do this any longer as all the villagers are doing this. He needs to find a better way to earn money to support his family. Len’s step father calls in the young and strong men in the village to work in the urban area as constructors. In the city place, Old K finds that all the ladies here are very beautiful and with shining hair until some day somebody tells him that most of them are wearing full lace wigs. Old K is really confused that why they buy wigs instead of cutting their own hair, but he thinks that is really good-looking. And he feels very sweet to buy her wife cheap wigs like that, the first present he gets for her wife. He loves his wife so much and he wish to give her the same city life.
I hope the villagers will meet their second spring of treasure and Old K will live a better life in the near future.
